Abstract: To reduce value loss of product returns in reverse supply chain, the time value of product returns in reverse supply chain was analyzed. Result indicated that such as return rate and proportion of different type returns influenced the marginal time value of product returns, which was called as time-sensitivity of returned products. The time-sensitivity would further influence the design of reverse supply chain. Returned product with high time-sensitivity was suitable for reverse supply chain with high response, otherwise was suitable for reverse supply chain with low response. It concluded that with the increase in return rate, proportion of new product returns, continuous-time discount rate, price of recovery product and remanufacturing productivity, marginal time value was increased. It was needed to speed up the returns flow and increase the response of reverse supply chain.
