Abstract: To ensure successful and efficient execution of grid workflow, a service time model was proposed to represent the time information in a service. Based on this model, a time model for grid workflow was presented that enabled time computation in a grid workflow as the same in a service. This model transformed the time problem of the workflow into the time problem of the service. Algorithms were also designed to judge whether time constraint could be satisfied in grid workflow, to calculate the shortest execution time of a grid workflow and to calculate the earliest/latest finish time for each activity. Finally, some examples were provided to show the feasibility of the time model and algorithms for time management in grid workflow.
