Abstract: To satisfy the individualized requirements of application service from the user of Application Service Provider (ASP) mode, a new approach including two-steps was put forward. The first step was selection of function modules. To achieve the goal of flexible functional modules configuration, a Business Granule (BG) was defined and its meta-model was also designed. A three-tier Business Customization Model (BCM) based on the defined BGs was constructed. The different coupling relationships among business process units were analysed. Based on functional tree, some operational operators were defined, and the decoupling among business process units were completed, so that the flexible functional modules configuration was realized. The second step was customization of business processes. Based on the third-party workflow platform, an integration scheme was devised to realize the flexible customization of business process. The common management mode was used to manage those ASP workflow instances identified by a new method named domain label. Also, the interface between the BGs and the workflow process was defined, and the mechanism of employing was designed to achieve the reuse of BGs. Finally, a collaborative manufacturing platform was provided to demonstrate the application of the study result.
